Health Advice

Do you like grapefruit?

The interaction between grapefruit juice and some medications can cause negative effects, especially on kidney level, and sometimes it can be fatal. A woman that uses birth control pills and then suddenly drinks too much grapefruit juice can get pregnant because this juice makes the effects of the pills disappear.

Grapefruit juice is not indicated to drink while taking anti-depressing medication, antibiotics and medicine for cardio-vascular diseases. A person that takes anti-depressives and adds to that grapefruit in huge quantities can feel that he has all of a sudden too much or too little energy, depending on the pills taken. Combining it with antibiotic can cause stomach sickness or can extend the illness you are taking medication for because the antibiotics will diminuate their effect. Heart drugs don’t work anymore, the blood pressure stays up and the heart beat irregularly. For those that love grapefruit juice, witch is more concentrated than the fruit itself, a recommendation would be to restrain from drinking it while they are taking medication.

Doctors try to raise attention upon avoiding and combating the combination of grapefruit with medicine especially because in some diets grapefruit juice is recommended in huge quantities.

Grapefruit is benefic to organism if used properly. It belongs to that class of aliments that burn calories, because it takes more calories to digest them than they have. Eating the fruit is not a problem, nor is drinking a glass of juice once in a while. The problem appears where human reasoning disappears. Wanting to loose more weight faster, people weaken their bodies and eat only grapefruits. It is efficient for a diet, but it also loosens the imunitary system. They become more vulnerable, more tired and nervous and if taking any medications they are risking their health in this combination.

So use this aliment wisely, go ask a specialist of its precise effects in your case and don’t abuse drinking grapefruit juice. Abusing something has never brought anything good, and it won’t in this case either. If you want to go on with your diet and keep your health find an alternative solution or make sure this does not affect your organism.

Health is Wealth

About Health is wealth

Health is wealth- goes the saying. The main thing man needs now is a healthy body. Without health, it is no use if a man has all the wealth in the world, as he wouldn’t be fit to do much with the money. There is no point to make money if you cannot spend the money on yourself.

Good health is attained through regular exercise and a regulated food diet. If you have bad food habits, even small changes in your diet can improve your health considerably. The key is to know which are the good foods, and to eat as much of such food as possible, and to avoid fatty and unwanted foods. Make sure you have about 5 you 7 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, calcium rich food and whole grain, high fiber foods regularly. If not, try to make small, slow changes to attain such a food diet as small changes are easier to make and easier to stick with. To know what types of food you eat, it is best to write down what you eat and drink everyday. This way you will know which foods you can eat more of and which foods to avoid. You can enlist the help of a nutritionist if you don’t actually know which foods to eat and avoid. Don’t trust the nutritional information you get from newspapers and magazines as they may conflict with earth other. Never think that good nutrition can be obtained from a vitamin pill. It may give you vitamins and minerals, but your body benefits the most from eating healthy foods. It would be more interesting and better to make some variety in the foods you eat as eating a variety of foods is good for your body. Making some changes in the mode of cooking of your food too helps in getting a healthy body. Rather than frying meat, it is better to bake, grill or broil meat. Cut back on extra fats like butter, oil and margarine while cooking. Eat salads without oily salad dressings as the calorie you cut down by eating a salad will then be compensated with the dressing. It is better to drink low-calorie beverages like water and unsweetened tea and diet soda, than aerated drinks.

Sleep is another factor that ensures a healthy body. Sleep as much as your body requires for you to feel fresh and active after a good night’s sleep. Also make it a point to introduce a regular exercise routine to your daily activities. Walking is considered the best form of exercise as it doesn’t need any expenditure to start out on it, and can be done anywhere, anytime, anyway. Start walking short distances to progress to about 2 to 3 kilometers a day, walking slowly while slowly increasing your speed. There are other exercises you can also do to maintain a healthy lifestyle, like swimming, jogging, playing some sport or bicycling. Just make it a point to do some form of exercise everyday, and to alter your food habits to have a good and health body!

Mothers who experienced a stressful event such as divorce, domestic violence, mental tension and work pressure have an increased risk of developing diabetes. Parents who are often stressed out or are having problems is the number one stressor among children. Without the parent’s knowledge, children may get stressed, raising level of cortisol-also called the “stress hormone”.

Cortisol is found adjacent to the kidneys and is released in response to either physical or psychological stress. It breaks down muscle protein into its component amino acid which then circulates the bloodstream. These amino acids are used by the liver in the manufacture of glucose for energy increasing blood sugar level and at the same time lowering the use of glucose as fuel. The excess and deficiency of cortisol in the body may trigger some system disorders such as autoimmunity damaging the insulin-producing beta cells thus resulting in insulin deficiency.

Children with diabetes who experience frequent episode of severe low blood sugar or hypoglycemia particularly at an early age may have reduced long-term memory performance than diabetic children who experience severe hypoglycemia at a later age. A diabetic children’s spatial memory performance may be greatly affected by episodes of extreme low blood sugar. Hypoglycemia is an abnormally low level of glucose in the blood or low blood sugar.

Anti-diabetic medicines that are taken orally by the mouth are effective as insulin injection in controlling symptoms of diabetes. The number of people with diabetes continues to rise while their ages at the time of diagnosis drop. Type 2 diabetes, which used to be called adult - onset diabetes, is now striking children, due largely to the obesity epidemic. Overweight and obese kids that present identifying symptoms like darkness around neck and armpits area are those who frequently get urinary tract infection (UTI).

Diabetes if not properly managed can lead to many complications such as amputation and damage to key organs of the body like the eyes, kidney and the heart. It takes every ounce of restraints and discipline on the part of the patient to be able to follow the rigid diet and medication regimen required for the management of disease.

Having diabetes requires careful examination of ones sugar level. Besides watching for sign of high blood sugar, they also have to be aware of warning signs of blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Using blood glucose meter, a person who has diabetes can tell his/her sugar level is low. Normal fasting blood sugar is 70 to 100 mg/dl.
